DENGUE OUTBREAK

An entomologist observes the dengue carrier Aedes Aegypti and Aedes Albopictus mosquitoes under investigation at the Department of Medical Entomology of Research Institute of Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City. RICHARD REYES

The mosquitoes are collected from areas where they are dengue cases recorded. The DOH declared dengue outbreak in Quezon City alone. RICHARD REYES

At least six people were confirmed dead due to dengue in one village in Antipolo City. Meanwhile, the death toll from dengue in the Ilocos region rose to 37 as of August 7, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. RICHARD REYES

They also breed mosquitoes on their research facility to further study the mosquitoes. Accodrding to entomologist Mahjalia Torno there is a possibilty that these outbreak has a new strands of dengue virus. RICHARD REYES

Dengue patients crowd the Pediatric ward of Qurino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City after the recent flooding brought by Tropical Depressions. The 23,000 number of dengue cases for the first half of the year increased by eight percent compared to the same period last year, the Department of Health said in a statement. RICHARD REYES
